Psychological & Conceptual

Amygdala Hijack
Over-stimulus
When someone has an overwhelming/immediate emotional reaction to a normal event, that's perceived more like a threat.
Munschausen Syndrome
Fake Disorder
A mental disorder where someone plays the role of a sick patient - some to the point of forcing signs/symptoms of illness & abuse. While their actions are performed consciously, they may be completely unaware of why they are doing it.
Dunning-Kruger Effect
Cognitive Bias
A rationality where someone who doesn't have much experience in a specific topic might over-estimate (or under-estimate) their understanding, causing their perception to rarely shift as they are either conciously or not - unable to think/judge from another point of view/reasoning.
Macdonald Triad
A belief that there are 3 factors connected to serial killers, more-so linked to sociopathy and homicidial suspects. The perception is that if someone is linked to 2 of the factors, that they may have a higher risk of committing murder. 3 Factors: Arson, Animal Cruelty, Enuresis
Black Hole Starships
Theoretical concept for space travel - where a spaceship strong enough to handle interstellar travel uses a black hole as a energy source for propulsion to travel between star systems - however; the unpredictability of a black hole would make the result unknown.
Behavioral Sink
Behavioral pattern that happens in a community when overpopulation begins. The limited resources and social breakdown would cause a collapse in behavior - stunting development.
Solipsism
Idea that the only person's mind that actually exists is their own.
The belief wildy ranges from those who think there's no just way to prove that others are independent "existences" (like agnostics who believe God may exist, but can't see proof of it). To some who almost think they are in a movie, and that there's no possible way that others have self identity.
Confabulation
Memory error: Usually happens through brain damage or dementia, where their mind will create memories that are not actually real. It can also be that their memories change, and they might recall wrong information - although they have no idea they are doing it.
It can range from small inaccuracies to completely surreal stories.
Capgras Delusion
A disorder where a person has delusions that close friend/spouse/relative/pet is replaced by an identical imposter. Extremely rare to where there is no set way to diagnose, no cure, although can be managed with medication.
Language Attrition
Process where someone's ability with a language is decreased/lost from either: usually occuring with repeated use of a 2nd language - as it can mess with a person's usage and understanding of their 1st language.
Listener Fatigue
Phenomenon that happens when prolonged audio stimulus causes uncomfortable side effects - and can take days to recover from.
The cause is linked to both sensory overload (multiple sounds from different sources) and large sound systems that have loud volume or unbalanced tuning)
Karoshi
Japanese term for "overwork death".
The pattern where working overtime & mental stress can cause strokes/heart attacks or suicide.
Widespread in parts of Asia - this caused a wave in younger workers - "freeters" that work hourly wages for temporary jobs rather than on a salary.
Vection
"Illusions of Self-Motion"
A sensation where it feels as though your moving although your stationary - causing a visual stimuli. The brain interprets this as your own movement.
-
Example: You're parked and a car drives fast beside you - causing your stomach to sink and a feeling like you were also driving too although you know you weren't.
